About the Role

Anthem is seeking an experienced Traffic Design Engineer to join our team! You will lead and collaborate with our design teams, sub-consultants, and clients to provide technical and management support in delivering a variety of transportation safety and community improvement projects. The desired candidate has delivered Florida Department of Transportation projects as a Project Engineer and/or Engineer of Record of Traffic Design elements including Signing & Pavement Marking, Lighting, Signalization, ITS, Traffic Engineering Studies, Temporary Traffic Control, and/or Tolling. Our ideal candidate can demonstrate a successful history of deliver projects from the pursuit phase through design and post design services.

Responsibilities:
- Serve as Signing & Pavement Marking discipline lead responsible for quality control, document management, schedules, budgets, staff allocation and providing technical and managerial leadership on key operational and safety related transportation projects.
- Provide technical and managerial leadership to project pursuit teams in procurement of FDOT contracts through project research, technical writeups, field reviews, technical panel sessions, interviews, Q&A’s, and other meetings.
- Develop and strengthen client relationships through marketing and business development strategies, industry reputation and experience.
- Conduct peer, constructability, and cursory reviews, and resolve issues concerning conflicting design requirements, specifications and/or difficult coordination requirements.
- Determine the feasibility of designs and analyze engineering documents
- Analyze engineering and historic documents, roadway geometry, roadside conditions, crash data, stakeholders, and other constraints to plan and design roadway improvements and temporary traffic control from concept to post-design.
- Prepare plans, specifications, quantities, cost estimates, planning and other documentation.
- Understand the shop drawing review process and technical design criteria procedures.
- Mentor and grow the professional development of junior and other professional staff

The physical requirements must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Intermittent sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, stoop, crawl, and lifting. The employee must frequently lift and/or move light equipment up to 20 pounds. The employee must be alert to equipment in the field, and the occasional need to work near hazardous equipment and machinery, occasional need to walk on uneven ground, exposure to dust, gas or fumes, exposure to noise, extremes in temperature or humidity, and potentially work at heights.

Requirements

  • Actively licensed Florida Professional Engineer (P.E.)

  • 8+ years of relevant project engineering design experience

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or related field

  • Excellent technical writing, technology, interpersonal and communication skills

  • Detailed, client-first team player with the ability to contribute to a positive work environment

  • Demonstrates experience in project delivery and contract, scope, schedule and manhour management

  • Demonstrate proficiency in design and analysis of signing & pavement markings, roadway lighting, signalization, temporary traffic control, ITS, and/or tolling;

Worksite: Orlando, FL area - onsite
